Winnie is a 2 year old female Cairn Terrier Cross. She is a rescue from the dog meat trade in China. During the pandemic the cost of bringing a dog from China to the UK was around £3000. We are so pleased to say this has now reduced to £1600.

We know this sum is still prohibitive in some cases, but we hope it gives these dogs more of a chance to leave the shelter as many of them have been there for over two years. Winnie was rescued from a meat truck in March 2021 as a puppy and spent a while recovering in the vet clinic for parvovirus, which she managed to overcome!

She’s now a happy, healthy little girl and is finally ready to find her forever home. Winnie is a gorgeous pup and if her scruffy appearance hasn’t already managed to win you over, her cheeky personality is bound to. Winnie is an energetic, playful and determined little terrier mix.

She’s confident, adventurous and curious, and is always up for a challenge whether that’s stealing a dog from another dog when they’re not looking, or working out how to climb on top of the outdoor playhouses and tunnels. She loves getting up to mischief with the other pups, especially with Rufus, but she’s also very affectionate with the safehouse volunteers and loves to rush up to them for a cuddle.

Winnie would do well in an active home, outside of the city and with access to a garden. She can live with other dogs and is a very sociable little thing, but she’s not been tested with children or cats. Although she’s a smaller sized dog she’s intelligent and enjoys both mental and physical stimulation. She’s bound to bring a lot of fun and excitement to a family home given the opportunity so if you think she might be your girl please get in touch!
